I was wondering whether I should answer anon or not because I’m not a person who can pull off doing big words, so forgive me if I sound a little strange

Have I ever hated drawing? I don’t remember if I ever did, I remember a lot of good things. But I rarely hate anything in general :3c I can understand why someone can come to hate it. There’s so much stress, pressure, and self consiousness attached to drawing.

If it’s making you depressed then I think that it’s self hurting to force yourself to create something;; So I would say to try another hobby and while you are drawing-deprived, see if you miss it (that’s why inspiration always strikes during extreme assignment/exam time right? hehee) Maybe it can remind you why you used to love drawing so much.

Do you remember what motivated you before? As silly and insignificant as it seems, I started drawing when I wanted to approach a friend. We drew on eachother’s notes everywhere and made fun of fandoms.

I still do that HAHhA..aha…ha. Generally if I can find one person at least I can show my drawing to, just to see them smile or laugh, woah or keysmash after seeing it, it’s really rewarding. 

I think… I love the feeling when a picture is finished. Good, bad, masterpiece or doodle. Things get different when there are deadlines, marks and money involved- things can get tedious;; But as long as you are more persistent than your own doubts, drawing can be very fun!

A: J-just practice! When lining you really need to do stokes fast and confident to keep it neat; I remember taking two years to focus on getting my lines neater; Pen pressure can help as long as it’s drawn fast;;? maybe try photoshop? Photoshop is nice to use on macs <:

With that brush, onto black do a bunch of dots and stars in different rainbow colours- not just white! I saved it as a big picture(its around a2 size)  so I can use this over and over again. I just use a different ‘spot’ with every starry picture i do. it looks like vv

A: Ehh in SAI it takes a bit of tweeking around in the files, it’s pretty hard to explain (?) Photoshop is easier, you can select the “area” you want to be a brush, >edit>define brush present>change around brush settings to what you would like!

They’re more known but some others; 999, Inazuma eleven series, Hotel dusk/Last window, Devil survivor If you mind a challenge, etrian odyssey series is good (i cheated though because this game is IMPOSSIBLE, but good storyline + art + mapping is addicting). I’ve played a lot of so-so rpgs too;; i’m looking for better

A: N-no lol. Uhm, I’ll try to explain?;; I actually made a “stars” once and I use the same one all the time (it’s a big pic, so I just pick a different spot to copy and paste). It’s just many MANY MANY dots (some yellow, red, green, blue, not just white) on a black background. I copy-paste it to the picture and then you set it to an addition(/dodge)layer. I airbrush random dark colours behind it haha;

like.. how should it be laid out? what things should be included? How do we divide it into sections etc..
A: OK, it’s a bit tl/dr;;;;; but it’s a VERY VERY BIG project and a big responsibility to take up;! A lot of the time I had to improvise with whatever I could do,;; I’ve only done it twice so This is mostly what I learned and nothing pro;;

1. - Firstly, planning and organising ends up being just as hard as filling in the pages OTL
2. -Know how you are going to print it first (this would have helped me the first time OTL)/ where/ etc. Think of the finishing, binding, paper, colour/bw. Printing a small amount is VERY expensive but you can lower it by printing bulk, small or less fancier paper or having less pages/ colour pages. Printing full colour is usually 3~10x more expensive ><;
3. -Once you got a rough idea of prices try to balance the price it takes to print with the amount of content. Scribble notes and all or brainstorm (whatever suits you) to plan what you want to include, how much you think you can manage \o/
4. -Lay the plan out page by page in a way you can tell what will be on opposite pages and what will be on adjacent pages. I even make a mini book out of paper and label it things like “drawing here”, “full page spread here”, “I dunno yet but put something”,”OH I WAnNA PUT THIS HERE”. I try to make little to no filler/title pages b-b-because thats me OTL. Planning HELPS A TON but you dont have to follow it all the way. There are always some pages that I keep blank until I think of last minute what I want to put there;;;
5. -Set a deadline / goal. It should be atleast a month and a half before a date you want to release it i think, since proofing and printing takes a long timeee
6. - >:d Start working! Keep in mind the paper size you choose and the cutoff, bleed and safe areas because you don’t want anything important cut off(Who is printing for you should be able to give you a template or tell you about this). Because of bleed and all the digital files should be bigger than the paper size itself. Make sure you draw 300dpi at least!
7. -Do the cover last. You can easily change your mind while putting this together, or even improve! If you have an idea for a cover, plan it but dont work on it until the end when you are really satisfied;; The bleed and safe areas are usually different for the cover than the insides. OH and you have to make room for any barcodes, titles, etc.
8. -Always arrange the PDF file last once you have all pages. Keep in mind the bleed and all, etc; Check that the pdf follows the right pages CHECK LIKE, 5, NO, 10 TIMES
9. -Order a single copy aka the proof copy. This is you chance to look for mistakes. Check if the binding obscures something important, or if it’s still cut off, typos, or if there is a sudden change you want to do. It’s better to give it to someone not so interested in the project too because if you are hyped about your hard work in print form, it’s harder to pick out mistakes;;
10. - I would order as many revised proof copies until you are 100% confident of it.
11. - Never order more than you are confident of;; It’s even better to order less and print more later, or put it up online like lulu.com (company organises orders for you by commission)

As for what should be included as content, it’s completely up to you C: You can look through other books to see what they done or arrange it in any way you like or just random too xD

A: It’s actually very, very, very relaxed! You can have days off or even days with just one subject, and I always seem to end early. That’s the problem because then all the work suddenly out of nowhere BUILDS UP and comes after you. You need to be very organised ;~; It’s the homework that ends up being stressful, not the classes.

A: Uhh to draw messy, I draw when i’m EXHAUSTEDDDD or not interested OTLorzOTLorz for my lazy doodles they are LAZY with 25 minutes max with two or three layers?;;(colour>sketch>any special effects) My neater doodles these days I push myself to work on the for 45~ an hour;. A: uhhhhhhhh, uhhh UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHaksjlajkhkjksal i have spent a lot of money on this. I usually go on a bit of a spree every comiket; I have 77 books (this is counting doujinshi too. Around 2/3 are artbooks/fanbooks/tutorials) but around 3/4 are ones that are 20ish to 60ish pages so I have a lot of smaller collections(like atelier tiv, nardack, shimeko, H2S04, many other neat ones) not the thick ones. I’m picky about what I buy and I kinda like these smaller ones better unless its something/one i REALLY REALLY like. It doesnt sound like it but my bookshelves are nowhere near full~

Oh, and the week before when I skipped the lecture, the all so isolated, Western Australian stores (except for 2) didn’t have pokemon yet. SO I SKIPPED FOR NOTHING maybe i wasnt supposed to… But it’s all good. I got it on the saturday afternoon with these babies as the preorder bonus~~~!

A: Like I said before, what is hard about this is that you can’t just give a brush file in sai like photoshop, You need to do all this other confluzzing stuff, make a “blotmap” and things. Imo, it;s not even worth it since it really doesn’t do much except make the brush fuzzy \o/ If I do upload sopmehow.. uh, one day, they will be in a pack of other stuff I made and played around with.

A:Ah, it depends on the layout you have OTL. Mine is the default, so I can just put the code into the “info”>”description”. Some have to go into the css code and do it; b-but  hardly know anything about it. Just try out in different places and see what works, hehe;;;
